How does the factory identify RS motor parts?
 

The 3.6 I purchased from Harald is strong. Very strong. In fact, if Harald wasn't so taken by the hydrolic lifters of his 993 motor, and such a highly ethical individual, I think my 93 3.6 may be in his personal car. I was told to take a ride in another 3.6 comversion and I would realize just how special my motor is.

Today, while under the car, I noticed writing on various parts of the motor which I am led to believe are from the factory since they are under the cosmoline. Numbers and letters are handwritten on the case. More specifically, the letters "RS" are written in red marker on several of the components, e.g. heads, case, etc. Both on the right side and left side, so I don't belive the "RS" stands for "right side." Did the factory designate certain motors of compenents with marker? Or are the parts specially cast and manufactured with their own number?

Wouldn't the DME part number tell you if it was an RS motor?

At that time, every engine went on the test bench, and yes, the good ones were earmarked for the RSs. Could well be you got one from an RS. Same engine, but for whatever reason, goes better than the others.

It is a normal Engine with some RS upgrades but the Power is
like a RS Engine . The PO was a Porsche Mechanic and yes i would have liked to keep the Engine myself but i promised to sell
a 93 Engine to you and at this Time that was the only one i had .
