5 lbs? Very low for sure, or they will leak.

If your covers are no longer flat they will leak at any torque. Check them on a pane of glass or other known flat.

Tighten the nuts down until they just touch. In a criss-cross pattern inside to out, turn each nut one 1/4 turn. Fill engine with oil, warm up, look for leaks. tighten another 1/8 turn at any leaking points. done!

Some machine shops will sand these flat on their sand belt table.
My local guy didn't even charge me.
I also bought a 1/4" drive torque wrench specifically for this task. Do not over-torque.

if you use the silicon reusable gaskets do it by feel and how much the gasket squeezes out.
it should NOT squeeze out. the torque is so light on these you will feel like they are not tight enough
these gaskets are great because they seal well and you can reuse them.

if they leak then just snug the nuts a tad more.

just a note for anyone out there, do NOT use gasket sealer on any valve cover gaskets.
I also run a die over the studs on the cam towers to clean the threads up.
make sure both surfaces are clean

I don't know what the dif would be between the 2.7 and 3.0 but the Porsche trained tech that rebuilt my 930-10 does 15 ft. lbs....and I do too when I adjust valves with no leaks ever....and no issues.
Just cross tighten.
