Two small dash cracks...repair or replace?
I'm doing a windows out repaint and have two small cracks in the dash that need attending. See pics for place and size. I'm not sure the cracks warrant a full dash replacement ($1500+), but not sure what it might look like after being repaired. Obviously now's the time to fix/replace dash issues with the windows coming out, but I'm not completely sure what to do.
The shop didn't seem comfortable covering the dash, but if they could remove it then I could probably find a local shop that could (in MN). Anyway, just looking for opinions. Do a bit of research. Many years ago there was a long thread with a guy who had very good luck refinishing a dashboard in much worse condition than yours. It would require removal of the dash from the car, however.

I do not consider those bad cracks.......but with a glass out repaint I would do something. Either have it covered or replace it. Your going this far might as well fix it for the next 30+ years.

Here’s another option. Dash Leather/Vinyl
|
cheapest option - fill the crack with black vinyl repair product & use a 'paper' on it that matches the dash grain
most spendy option - new dash - apparently the early dashes don't fit well at all, but they are only a couple of grand from Pooschey so hey! fugliest option - dash cover Great to have choices ain't it? |
