My 1986 Moss Green Metallic 911 Coupe
Wanted to start a thread for my new-to-me 1986 Coupe. After about a year and a half of searching and being patient, I found the perfect 911 for me. I wanted an '86 for a few reasons: bigger dash vents, last year of the 915 transmission (love it), and my dad had a guards red '86 Coupe when I was growing up. I was lucky enough to stumble upon one close to home in the exact color combo I wanted, Moss Green Metallic over tan. It has some miles (144k), but after a tune up from the greatest shop ever, TLG, she runs beautifully. Many smiles per mile.
I don't have huge plans for this car, I really like it as is. Looking at a M&K 1-in-1-out, and some 17" Euromeister 7's and 9's are probably in order. It's on polished (not my thing) 7's and 8's now, with huge balloon tires. Came with 225/50/16 up front on the 7's, and 245/50/16 on the 8's in back. Too big, too tall. Still a blast to drive though! First thing I did was swap out the red US tail lenses for amber Euro's. Love the amber on green. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

That’s a color you don’t see every day.

Nice car, love the color!
I can’t say for certain, but your polished wheels appear to be 6’s and 7’s, not 7’s and 8’s. Which would be the standard 16” sizes for an ‘86.

those tires do look huge -- might also want to consider simply replacing tires with factory sizes (205/55-16 front 225/50-16 rear) which would both reduce the current balloon effect and provide a bit more compliance on mediocre roads than the shorter tires on 17s would. There are some posts on how to do a diy RSR finish on the wheels (dull out the polished look) that could help on that front.
Are your sugar scoops still rocking old school sealed beam headlights? Replacing them with drop-in H4 bulb assemblies will make a HUGE difference if you plan to drive at nite -- add headlight relays too while you're at it. Sweet color -- |

Thanks y'all! I was thrilled to finally find a 911 like this. Glad I was patient!
They could very well be 6's and 7's, I haven't checked yet. Just going off how wide the 245's look on the rim, it looked like an 8 to my eye. In any case, I'd like to fill out the fenders a bit more with something wider. And I actually did ask Marco at TLG to install some H4's into my sugar scoops just this week. What a difference at night! Glad it's possible to use the H4's without the full Euro assemblies, I actually like the sugar scoops. ![]() ![]() |

Love it.
The tail light does not seem to be lined up with the center reflector ? Anyone ever seen a hole in the bumper like this?

Thanks! The new lenses line up as well as the old ones, which I would describe as "decent." I think this car might've been tapped in the back end at some point, which could explain the newer style rear reflector and slight misalignment. Nothing I'm too concerned with though, it's in really nice shape all around.
The hole in the bumper strip has since been filled with the proper ~$5 plug from our host. It covers where the tow hook inserts. Part #: 911-505-327-00-OEM |

Looks awesome...congrats on your find! Be on the hunt for a '74-86 reflector...they look so much better. I installed one on my white '89 along with the amber turn signals...really makes the back pop!
