My new ultimate daily driver

The Ultimate lightweight Targa is gone...... The Italian '69 2.2S track beast is gone.... And ever since I sold my '79 SC with a 3.2 heart, I've missed a daily driver aircooled 911. A new Mercedes just doesn't do it for me. And I go crazy with all the "safety" alarms such as seatbelt alarm, Park alarm, lane assist alarm, cold weather alarm, reverse alarm, parking brake alarm, safety distance alarm etc etc etc OMG!!! But luckily, I'm driving tastefully again! Perhaps the most tastefull daily driver I ever will get my hands on: 1982 SC. Fully disassembled, set up on rotisserie and generally built from new from scratch. Custom built interior, completely rebuilt 915 tranny, completely new suspension all over. Renovated brakes, renovated full electrical harness, and to top it off: A completely rebuilt '91 3.6 engine makes this car a fantastic package. Simply a joy!!! Now, as I can leave nothing alone, I've already bought new 1 3/4 headers and a Wong Chip. 280hp is quite nice in a G model and the new build is an incredibly firm ride. But......should I backdate it?

Looks good as it sits, but seeing that it isn’t numbers-matching (concerns some people) the sky is the limit when it comes to modifications. Judging from the Targa, it’ll look awesome whatever you decide to do.

You must be in a cool climate. No AC in a daily driver??

First congratulations on another classic air cooled Porsche. The car looks amazing... As far as a/c is concerned I deleted my heat recently.... A completely restored A/C System with all new parts is going next....... I never use either. It's a hot rod not a daily driver.

Looks crisp, timeless even. Backdating would not be on my list....

Don't backdate it. Have you considered an IROC look? Would be easy just to change the bumpers. Would save weight and look cool.

Yep, northern Europe. Summer is high 70s (when it's good) Winther is low 20's. I rarely need aircondition. Unless I go to my summer house in Italy. Thats high 80s during summer. So nice, but a 1000 miles drive.

Yeah I'm also considering that. Must admit, I may just leave it as it is. Paint is fresh and looks very good. Maybe lower it a bit. Upgrade the brakes. 280hp is pretty fast in a 2400lb (with full tank) G model

Vallelunga. Here are some additional pics. Sorry for the bad light, apparently I'm only not working when it's dark Last edited by Nux; 11-26-2019 at 10:46 AM..
