...for largest A/C condenser mounted in a 911.

The PO of my '80 SC was apparently VERY into having good A/C here in Vegas. How much? Here was the auxiliary condenser mounted under the car (it was plumbed in in addition to the usual one up front):

This goliath was mounted transversely under the front seat area. Its length is the width of the passenger compartment; it stands about chest high when stood on end. I wonder what it was originally built for.

I bet he was cool and comfortable!

I nehver saw one but recall the conversation about the install and efficiency

So are you removing the AC system and you live in Vegas?

That is a big condenser. I have 4 condensers in my 85 911. The Griffiths system. It works very well.

Yes; I am taking the car much in the direction of Nux's cool stone grey targa project. A lot of unneeded items including the A/C are coming out as the early stages of a lightweighting effort, while I also re-do the EFI the PO installed. See my other thread on this.

I think that’s part of a system made by Performance Aire who were in Anaheim.
I have a complete system in my loft that I had on my RS 25 years ago.
It was a bit of a problem with low suspension but got the temps down cold enough to see your breath in the car!
It had to be taken off in the end as it would only work with R12 gas.
Replaced with excellent Griffiths system.

Back in the day they were marketed as "Desert Duty."

My last project car that I bought had TWO of those mounted underneath!!! I do remember them being about waist high though, so maybe a foot shorter than yours, but TWO of them!! Those things weigh @ 50 lbs each also!

I recall looking into these options in the 90s with my first 911, in which I was roasting in the summers back in humid NC.

The whopping unit on my current project should be called Death Valley Duty.
