Another what's it worth question

My wife and I were walking the other day and came across a1985 Targa Carrera; one owner car in very good to excellant shape. Actually my wife took a look at it and said how nice it would be to have for a daily driver- for her! I've read alot on this board between the sc's and carrera's and have a pretty good idea that this could be a really nice car. The car has only 24,000miles and the price is $23K. I know these cars go from a range of $14K to ???
Obviously the low miles are attractive and given the PPI checks out; what would an average yearly cost to maintain this car. Before I chalk this up to the 'one that got away' let me know what you think about the price, given the market conditions and the availabliity of this MY porsche.
Thanks in advance!!
Mark

I was told to allow $1000 per year in maintenance for SCs and Carreras....mine is now at $2200 and its only March, and yes mine has "low miles" as well....

tough to guage price because there aren't that many cars out there with that low of miles. Ordinarily an '85 targa would be sifnificantly less, but that price sounds about right due to the low miles...maybe a tad high. You'll be depreciating it as you drive it though.

If you don't buy it, please send me the info.

When we had our 82SC that my wife drove as a daily driver, we spent around $4,000 per year. It had 110,000 miles on it and we didn't do any of the work ourselves.

$4000 a year? Wow that seems alot but then I don;t drive my car everyday.
I really don't thinks she knows what she might be getting into regarding cost of keeping the car in top shape, plus the downtime when it is in the shop. Truth be told she thought it was cute looking. If I do decide not to buy this car I will gladly let you know about it.

as another data point I bought my SC w/41K on the clock last August. After spending about $1K right off the bat (tune, valve adjust, install pop-off, replace headlight and turn switches) I have only paid for gas and oil over the past 10K miles (knock on wood).

The car sounds good. I'm at about 1000-1500 per year for an '83SC with 120M miles. I'd love to have something with lower miles but, because I have a lot of miles on mine, I don't have to worry about depreciation as much as a higher priced car with low miles.
