NORD-LOCK Washer for cv joints part number

Looking for a part number for Nord-lock washer for a m8 bolt. I see they have stainless and zink..
Every place I look doesn't say if they are the NLX style or the NL ..does it really make a difference between the two..

N-L: https://www.nord-lock.com/nord-lock/products/washers/

Nord-Lock wedge-locking washers utilise tension instead of friction in order to secure bolted joints exposed to severe vibration and dynamic loads.

N-L X: https://www.nord-lock.com/nord-lock/products/x-series-washers/

The Nord-Lock X-series washers combine Nord-Lock wedge-locking with an innovative spring effect, offering the highest security against spontaneous bolt loosening and slackening.

Thank you for the replies....but did you purchase the NLX or is the NL what you use... I do not see anywhere the NLX is listed.. it just says Nord-lock

Lyle O 11-27-2019 03:59 AM

FWIW, I use the NL, as listed from BelMetric (though my car is an ‘87, so uses the 10mm version). Works perfectly. Just remember that the thickness of the NL washer system is 2mm. In my case I used longer CV bolts to make up for this.

Kraftwerk 11-27-2019 06:45 AM

Yes Lyle is right. Use longer bolts to accommodate the extra thickness of these washers.

I just did this ('83 SC) and my CV/axles came with 45 mm bolts which are too short with the NLock units.
I used the 50 mm and on the outside/wheel side I ground a bit of the ends off for safety sake/clearance. With the Nlock on the inside, where you can see any protrusion there is a thread or two but not an issue....would have probably been ok on the outside too but why take a chance.
BTW, mark the bolts/Nlock and CV cover with a sharpie....no movement at all.

Ok I bought m10 bolts 55mm long 12.9. I went on Nord-lock website but I am confused..if i apply blue loctite what should i torque them to when using the nord-lock washer.
I'm so confused

Len....I did not lok tight anything...just clean up the oil in around the bolt holes and use the Nordlocks...clean the face they will sit on of oil and torque to spec....done.

Len 911 11-27-2019 01:37 PM

What is the torque spec..that is what I'm am looking for

gtc 11-27-2019 02:04 PM

Use the same torque spec listed in whatever manual you are using - 61 ft*lbs or whatever.

you want the bolts to stick out about 2-3 threads past the flange.
you can get them in 5mm lengths

winders 12-02-2019 10:28 AM

Don't use loctite. With the 10mm bolts you don't need Nord-Locks but they can't hurt. The threads don't need to extend out of the flange at all. But having them stick out 2 threads or so makes it easy to see that full threads are engaged.
