How Difficult is this Dash Piece to Replace?

Good morning All,

The new to me 1992 964 has some gouges right beside the radio - looks like the radio might have been ripped off at some point and the thieves weren't overly cautious.

Anyway, I am considering either a possible repair solution (Fibrenew?) or replacing this piece entirely.

To anyone who has replaced this part of the dash - what's involved? Is this a real pain in the butt to do?

Thanks,
Chris

Easier on a 964 as you use the same tool to pull the HVAC control as you do the radio. Get those out of the way, spin the front part off the cigarette lighter and back off the plastic nuts that hold the fog and defrost switches in and then you can remove and replace the panel.

It would be fairly easy to do but the problem is finding that piece as a spare part.

And if your have a RHD car you chances are worse than Buckley.

Thanks very much.

To confirm, it’s only the Hvac, radio and buttons that hold this piece in place?

No other screws or sealant / glue to worry about?

Thanks again,
Chris

And glue

Yes, glue. It's the old school German contact glue used throughout the car.

Messy stuff.
