Thermal Switch / Smuggler Box Block Off Plate
Hey guys,
Modeled this for my car this morning. Figured I'd upload for anyone who may need this in the future and has access to a 3d printer. For ease of printing with filaments with more temperature stability, I have opted to not make the through holes go through the entire model. This greatly helped on my printer while allowing me to forego the raft for adhesion and accuracy of the bolt holes on the initial layer. It will be necessary to finish the model after printing by through hole drilling the holes. After printing and drilling, I sprayed the back side with some spray adhesive, in my case Super 77 and glued on a piece of gasket material. I used some left over drawer liner for a tool box. Made a really nice seal and closed up the hole in my firewall after I removed the AC hardware from the smuggler's box. Here's a link to the model: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4003204 thanks, Joe

Pretty sweet. Thanks for sharing.
I dont have a 3D printer but I will print a 1:1 flat pattern with your model and cut out a piece of plastic or sheetmetal.

Can you post a pic of it installed?
Thanks... probably going to be more and more 3d printed parts for our old cars. Karl |

I made one of these too. Used a piece of flashing that painted. Traced the frame of the thermo switch then cut, painted and sealed. Used the original hardware.
