COA Option Group Y34

Looking for clarification or any information really, for "Option Group Y34". I can't find any references for this option code. Y34 is a color code for Annie Blau but that's not the meaning for this option. Does anyone have info on what this option is?

You are correct. As I stated in the post Y34 is the exterior color code for annieblau. However if you look at the COA, the exterior color is R4 Grand Prix White which is correct as the car still wears it's original paint.

I'm trying to identify the "Option Group Y34" under "Optional Equipment".

This is a group of options, almost certainly more than two. Unfortunately I do not have info on this, but will work on it. So far I have 7 Yxx group options for 1978; the Y tends to be tied to the year. The other two options I would like to discuss with you directly. Please PM or email. Dave
If anyone else has a 1978 or nearby year CoA or a Window Sticker it would assist my research into the options and group options.

Y34 may be Koni shocks and sport seats. It's not listed in the 1978 Porsche + Audi fact book but is listed in previous years. Does your car have sport seats?

It does have sport seats. Sporting Bilstein's at the moment, may not be original?

It could be that your car originally had Koni's and if the sport seats are date matched to your car, then it's likely 34 didn't change for the 1978 model year but for some reason, Porsche + Audi decided not to list the group options in 1978+ fact books.

As djpateman mentioned, the "Y" does not actually appear in the earlier fact books so perhaps that does indicate the year - 1978.

The Y options for 1978 have been discussed before. There was also a Y26 (Y26 option on a 78 SC, includes a window sticker image). Also a Y70.

I think this family of options became an A series for 1979.

There are a huge number of Group options, and it probably depended on the Distributor. Plus, every year the letter changed. There was the A series in 1979 and also a B series; several years had more than one series letter. Then the F series in 1980 and the J series in 1981. I believe the contents of a group might vary each year, so 34 in one year would not likely be the same as 34 in another year with a different letter. I would never assume that a group from one year would be identical to a group the next year.

Option Group Y24

My 1978 has the Y24 group which (apparently) includes:
  • Bilstein shocks (HD, if I recall correctly)
  • 16" Fuchs (6" & 7")
  • Pirelli P7 tires
  • sunroof (I'm including it here because it does not appear anywhere else on the window sticker)
I'm basing this list on items I know I ordered, but that are not itemized on the window sticker. The Y24 group cost was $2225.

Other options that were listed separately (and therefore not part of Y24):
  • limited slip differential $490
  • sport seats $320
  • leather interior $1350
  • leather steering wheel $120
  • a/c $895
  • fog lights $110
  • power windows $295
  • center console $60

Well that's interesting. I have Bilsteins, 16" Fuchs (6" & 7"), Pirelli as noted, and sunroof but no Y24. Per "djpateman" could have been unique codes right down to distributor.

I guess I'll just consider it a Porsche mystery and continue to drive the snot out of it!! I'd hate to find out it was something special that I needed to baby ;-)

thanks for the feedback!
