The rest of the story... after rebuilding both front calipers and taking it for a successful test drive, the next time I backed out of the garage, the pedal hit the floor and I had to use the E-Brake to keep from driving through the roses !
When I took the wheels off again, and had the helper push the pedal, I was getting nothing at the caliper. I couldn't even bleed them. So I followed the sage advice of the forum, pulled the pads out, and put much thinner (1/4") piece of metal in place of the pads. I had the helper hit the brakes really hard to engage, them, then I bled them again. I got ALOT of air out. it must have been trapped in the cylinder, and only just getting out after a few runs. Much better now as it works correctly, and I did want to share how I got the calipers unstuck, based on the knowledge of this forum! |
