396 Paint Code on 911SC?

Looking at a 1980 911SC with a 396 paint code on the paint code tag. It's a dark blue metallic color. Can't find the paint code in any of my books. Anyone know the name of the paint color? Maybe paint to sample?

I couldn't find the paint code for my 72 either. I was looking at 1972 paint codes. I eventually did find it however, I think in 1974 paint codes.

Try looking for the code in other model years.

Thanks Mike. Yup, definitely isn't Petrol Blue Metallic. I guess I'll have to order the COA (or whatever it's called now) to find out what color it is.

Looked in the PET (78 - 83) and there is not a 396 there. You probably looked there already though. Maybe it was paint to a color from another year? As you said the Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche should tell you the name. Some of the other blues: "Metallic Blue Shade" and it is code 31G, and a Glacier Blue metallic (31Z).

There is a tag which is supposed to state the color (going to look to see if I have it):

Let us know
