White hood sticker not showing all the options? Was this a thing?
Just wondering,
My hood sticker on my 86 and all the others are orig. little patina on them and all. What’s funny is that there’s only one option code and it’s more of a version listed. My car has a bunch of options, and when I went to Porsche they pulled them all up off the vin. Sure enough there all there, not added after. I’ve heard somewhere that like everything back then, they did this some times. My car was originally imported via a non Porsche dealer that became a dealer back in 85/86. Wonder if that’s it? Anyone else?

Hi Hotshot- I have often wondered the same. After speaking to the original owner, I know that Petra was ordered with specific options (Spoiler delete, Sport Seats, Partial Leather, Cruise, etc.) from the factory. The original owner sat down with his New Jersey dealer and basically had the car built, and then had to wait for delivery. She does show a complete option code list on the hood sticker. Just conjecture, but perhaps a less detailed sticker could be an indication of a dealer stock car (with the options most buyers wanted) rather than a custom-built?

It really depends on the model code and the specific option code. The model code can sometimes define a model level with certain standard options. If the option listed is a letter option, then it may be a group option with several component options. The dealer does not matter.

I had a 930 with paperwork showing dealer installed options, not on hood sticker.

That makes perfect sense. My car came into Ottawa in 85 for the 86 season. It’s options are so “ common “ I was wondering if it’s some type of model code. Diff Power seats Alarm Central locks Front Spoiler and Tail Monterey stero Cruise Is there any charts for model codes? There’s 400 series number I can’t figure out on it.

I have it on my 88. It got chewed up some over the years so I had a reproduction made by Car Bone out of Poland. Looks perfect. They made several new stickers for me that had worn/rubbed out over the years. If you have your original owners/maintenance manual the same sticker should be in the first page or so. You can browse the online Porsche PET guide for all of the stickers for your particular year. It's a small thing that makes your car look great. Happy New Year.

Yes, I’ve seen those. I would get one my orig wasn’t there. That site is great.
I just searched PET guide. Love this PdF vs the parts catalog I have from Porsche NA. Same thing but an easier layout.
