Source for metric fasteners?

I am looking for a source for correct general bolts, nuts screws etc for the usual projects. (YES..I keep losing the originals...and I get tired of running to the local hardware store which has minimal variety of metric hardware..and what they have tends to not be the yellow zinc coated 10.9 type.
I would love to buy several of our hosts Wurth variety packs but looks like that would be pretty expensive. Griots has several assortments..pretty pricey as well..)
Any other suggestions..I don't need a lot of each type..just want a good assortment!

Automotive Fasteners in greensboro would have anything you need, but I'm willing to bet there's a place alot closer.

Wurth has metric hardware kits, that contain German made pieces, and would be a natural for generic Porshce hardware replacements.

What would be useful is for someone to go through the parts manual and get a list of fasteners actually used. I've seen the huge (and expensive) Wurth assortments, but you really don't need every size cheesehead screw ever made, just certain ones.

Paragon makes a Wurth kit with Porsche specific sizes I believe.

I'll second Mc Master-Carr. They've got some pretty good stuff.

MCC's site online catalog is down for some reason, but when it's back up you'll see why they're so good. Their catalog (in pdf form) is very thorough.

The ones most commonly needed for most repairs & updates should be easy to figure out from the 101 projects material....

I agree that it sure would be nice to have a commonlu used assortment..just makes for one less hassle. Like saturday when I was really p/oed that I had to go searching for one little 8mm Nylok for the front marker light (placing a "cooler scoop" ) The hardware guy informed me that a 5/16" would do nicely...NOT!
