75 911 exhaust, is this resonator or cat?

Curious, this is a new to me 75 911 with what looks like the 49 state exhaust (no thermal reactors), but is that a resonator or catalytic converter?

Second question, if it is just a resonator I have a cat leftover from my 78SC, could I swap that in if I'm feeling extra "green"

I've never seen a '75 with that exhaust arrangement. The PET identifies that as a "front muffler".

75-77 came with thermal reactors as I recall. Might have varied from state to state.

Pretty sure the Cali cars came with thermal reactors, 49 state and Canada 75-77 cars looked like this. From what I've read anyway.

That does not appear to be a Cat. Most likely a front muffler/resonator. Merry Christmas

Definitely the front muffler on a non-thermal reactor exhaust. My ‘75 had the same setup before I converted to the SSI system.

Thanks all! That's what I figured, but I'm new to the 2.7 series.

Probably going to go SSI, got a few dual in mufflers laying around..

Actually I should have asked for the engine #, that would have told me if it was an original Ca delivery 75 like mine. If it was, it would have had thermal reactors. Someone probably just found a later exhaust and swapped it out.

Those, resonators were on the 75/76 2.7. There were a few with thermals and EGR coming back from the muffler to the air box
I guess it mainly had to do with point of sale.
