Who has the best RS door panels Rennline or Appbiz?

have no experience with the RL units, but Appbiz are of great quality and the customer service can not be matched. I was installing a set I had on a previous car on another car and contacted them for the riv nuts and other fasteners in an effort to purchase them. the owner (bob?) would have none of it and sent me the full compliment of fasteners free, even covering the postage.

pretty sure RL would have not have accommodated me in such a manner.

I have not looked into this yet so forgive my ignorance but how hard is it to convert from standard to RS door panels in a typical SC?

And second question - is the only thing you give up the originality plus the pockets and armrest?

OK maybe disregard my first post and questions. I just watched a couple YT videos and looks like these are very straight forward to install and the strap takes the place of the factory door lever. Mine were replaced with metal ones by the PO but my old panels are in pretty shabby condition so getting these RS versions will clean everything up as far as the panels are concerned. Lord knows there's plenty to do elsewhere inside!

The Appbiz panels have held up well with numerous removing's for this and that...4 years old now and still look new.

I installed Appbiz RS door panels and it was relatively simple. The material that they use for the door cards is a type of rigid foam. I only wish the foam was a little bit more rigid, I got some wows in the bottom between the fasteners due to some minor misalignment of the attach holes. I also used real rivnuts instead the the included ones for the door pulls and installed beefier bolts. If you do the RS door cards, take the opportunity to clean up all that old grease on the window mechanism and regrease, it made a huge difference in the speed and smoothness of my windows. The pull strap is the old one, not the new Appbiz. New cards look great!

The app biz kit is really good. the style is more 964 than old 911. on my 911T the panels and pockets were trashed. Bob is local to me so i found some old german square weave and brought it to him, he made the panels, along with a pull strap and a custom door handle to give it a bit more long hood flavor. They look great. I have his full regular kit on my 964 hot rod and they look great too.

Bob is great to work with and very responsive to "custom" type orders.

He gets it and tries to accommodate whatever you need or dream up.

They make two types of panels one that is similar to the 964 style you mention and another that is RSR.

I have ordred a few sets from Bob as well as carpets. He did a custom carpet for my 65 911 build as well. Great support from Appbiz

I'd like to add another plug for Bob at Appbiz.

I ordered a pair of door panels from the Appbiz eBay site yesterday and Bob called me this morning to verify and confirm my order before shipping them out.

How often has anyone done that for you?

It's unheard of.

I ended up getting the RS style but on the phone this morning added door pockets (called an RSA panel) and black pulls. I'm also getting the power window switch bezels installed.

If you haven't seen the door pockets - they are similar to those found in the 60's VW sedans.

They will look like this one except with black pulls and without the speaker grill:

No affiliation - just passing along my positive experience thus far....

I couldn't swallow the cost of either. Your buying thin plywood and vinyl. I made my own in a few hours using aircraft grade (MIL-P-6070) plywood. I made the pattern from my original door cards.

I just stumbled across these. Anyone have experience with them? They claim to be "ultra light" and appear to be made out of thin gauge aluminum. I have purschased products from AASE and they have been of very good quality (the aluminum decklid I purchased from them was made in Europe). The materials used on this door panel set look good. The handle doesnt appear to be the cheap plastic (looks like aluminum) I have seen with others and the strap is leather. I would prefer a different color strap, but that can be taken care of with leather dye.

APP Biz door panels

Just finished installation this morning. Easy peasy. Minor niggle relates to necessity of using plastic shipping bag to create moisture barrier before installation of the panel. Despite waiting 24 hours, it was a pain to try to avoid getting the silicone on the door panels. Would liked to have seen APPBIZ install the moisture barrier on the panel. Otherwise despite paucity of directions, it was pretty straight forward and relatively easy to accomplish. I was impressed both with the perfect alignment of the holes in the panels to the holes in the door and with the final result. Well worth the money. Mine are leather and seem high quality.

Thanks for the feedback.

Not sure I understand the comment about waiting for 24 hours.

Are you saying that's how long you waited after applying the plastic moisture barrier - before finishing the job? And somehow it created a challenge in keeping adhesive off the panels. Because you wanted it to dry during that 24 hours - and it didn't?

Thanks for clarification.

FWIW - I'm very sloppy when working with stuff like this so just want to know what I'm up against...lol.

Were there any gaps around the door lock knob?

I had no problem with the vapor barrier which I got from Appbiz. I used double back sealing tape. I did have problems with hole alignment.

Good idea about the tape.

Are you talking about the holes that secure the panel?

Is so - aren't you supposed to drill those yourself?

Thanks for any clarification!

The inside panel has holes pre punched. Some of mine didn't line up.
