Fan Housing / Alternator Depth

Before I order a new 75A alternator, does anyone make a spacer to go between my 50A alternator and the deep version fan housing? Should be about 9mm.

So I had this same issue on my 78 911. The previous owner installed a 50amp alternator and the alignment between crank pulley and alternator pulley was not correct. When researching this I saw this spacer:

But decided to just get the correct 75amp alternator.

Thanks Lou! $75 bucks! I think I'll do the same as you and buy the new 75A alternator.

We do. We also have a modern 175A unit that is a direct fit to an early car. Later cars use the spacers.

The 175A alternator was developed to allow our electric AC to run at full potential. It also opens the door to electric heat which we are working on. There are also a lot of ‘retro mod’ builders adding extra toys to the cars. Nose lifts, power steering pumps etc, heated seats etc.

The original Porsche alternators have very poor idle output, the 90A unit only only do about 35A, ours is 75A.
