Passenger door lock help, questions about removal and a lead, w PICs

Hi guys,

I’m close but haven’t nailed down my issue yet. I’ve read every thread I can but I seem to have the opposite issue. I replaced the rod with the new plastic 964 rods.

My Pax door stays locked after the Central Locking ( keys ) unlocks both door buttons. The only way I can open the door from the outside is with the key.

At first I thought microswitch as it’s common, but it works fine and does not move or tumble. It always triggers.

What seems to be happening is that the micro switch has power to move the buttons up but NOT the exterior latch open via spring power. So you have to turn key a little more past the (electric open pos ) and make the latch Manually force a bar. I’ve included pics.

Another thing of note, the pull rods for the interior opening on Pax side requires a very hard ( almost to the end ) pull. It does not share the same “ spring pop “ snap like the drivers.

The Bowden cable looks the same as the drivers side but feels a little less tension.
And the spring on the lock feels gunky or sticky.

So, I suspect I have to remove lock re grease and figure it out. . I know it’s 3 bolts, but do I have to take out the window and track to get it out. If so, is it worth the fix?

Last thing I wanna do is mess that up..but I do have to re align or try to fit the windows at some point. I’ll be fixing the targa seal issues.

Any other tips? Anyone had this? One member said he bent a piece back and re greased it.

I also have realized that the drivers side has an extra spring. I’m assuming that is because of the “ not lock your keys inside” safety.

Hear are some pics.

This is the arm I had to bend in as the actuator could not move it far enough to unlock the door. It's been a while so I could be wrong.

Thx Rod. I’ll check it out. Either way you had to take it out right?

I had it out for a good cleaning and lubing. I don't think you can bend it installed because it hits the actuator.

I pulled the Handle out and re adjusted that, after a lot of videos, and studying, it’s something In the mechanism on the pull / part of the rod/ inner part of the lock. Since the only that is not working is that I have to manually ope the door from the outside for a passenger, I decided I can live with that for ow vs pulling out the widow track ad window ad re allign everything.

The screw on the right that holds the Handel needed a little adjustment. So I know it’s fine, as is the auto lock

It’s something to do wit the lock mechanism itself just aft the auto lock. I Tink it’s what you had. Where I made it blue.
