Turn signal lever/stalk

I would like to know how to replace the lever itself. I need a turn signal assembly because mine stopped cancelling but the replacements have the standard looking lever and mine is extremely hard to find and when you do, it costs an arm and a leg. In keeping with originality I need to transfer my lever to the replacement unit.

I didn't think the '76 MY had the "skinny" stalks. I thought it was just '74/'75
You might want to make sure these didn't get changed out at some point with
the earlier ones or they could have put the earlier ones on at the factory if they
were still in the build bins at the time your car was built, especially if it was a
summer '75 build date. What's the build date on your "'76" Carrera? I would
think that you could just remove the pivot pin on the lever to remove it and
replace it with yours as long as both levers are the same width at the point
where the pivot pin secures the lever in the housing.

My question is how easy was it to remove the pivot pin and to reinstall? What did you use to take out the pin?

I've never tried, never had a reason to. Just showing the location and giving you a measurement of a later one to check it's feasibility.
