Noisy fuel pump
Need some advice with regard to a noisy fuel pump. It only happens sometimes and when it does it's a really loud buzzing whining noise. I'm not sure if the noise or the fact that it's only sometimes causes me more concern.
Do I need a new one or is this normal (probably not) or fixable (I hope so)? Cheers Simon

Mine was really noisy because the positive lead to the pump was grounding through the chassis due to the wire's protective sheath being rubbed off after all those years of vibration. I wrapped it in electrical tape temporarily until I rerun a new wire and the noise went away.
I'm not sure how you car is setup compared to mine but it might be something to look for before you spend the money on a new pump.

Hi 9firty from the eastern states.
I had an intermittant noise from my fuel pump. My mechanic sugested that it may be simply the metal cover over the steering rack touching the fuel pump. Guess what it was! Cheap fix. Andrew
