Starter wires on 77 911 3.0
Hi, anyone know where the yellow wire that goes on the solenoid goe to? It is a slide on connection, not onto a actual post with the wire going to the alternator.
Thanks. |

Thanks for responding. There are four connections on the solenoid. Two are posts and two are those slide on connectors. One post receives a wire right off the starter. The other post, the longer one receives two wires. One goes to the Alternator and the other towards the front of the car. In my case, only one of the slide on connectors are used. The other is for diagnostic testing.
So the wire goes into the engine compartment? Does it go to main connector (It's a plastic box like 1" X 2"? If so, where does it go from there? To the key switch and then to the battery? Thanks for your help. |

the red is the jump connection from the altenator hot to the battery hot.. the yellow from the ignition sw. goes to the 14 pin engine compartment connector, on drivers side fuse panel area.. then it splits to the starter sol. and thermo time sw./cold start valve..

Thanks Ron, I noticed that the Thermo Switch when disconnected I do not even get a click when I turn the key. Absolutely nothing. Do you think that probably means I am good at far as the yellow wire goes? Maybe I should focus on the other two.
Does that make sense. This electric stuff is really confusing to me. Thanks for your help. |

Argeo,
I did my conversion last August and had same question, and many Pelicanites helped me. If you are using 3.0 harness you should end up with extra yellow/blue striped wire. That wire goes to high torqued starter that comes on 3.0. For 2.7 just tape it back good or cap it. You will be using a 6 pin cdi instead of 3 pin. you have to make a mod on the (was it a) 14 pin connector at the rear fuse panel for the tach. Look up leads by typing 27-2-30 and 27230 on the search box on the bottom of the page. If you need pin mod pictures on the connector, let me know. Last edited by scarebus; 04-03-2003 at 01:03 PM.. |
