SC windshield Porsche dealer, vs Sekurit
Hagerty is paying to replace my windshield, seal and trim.
My option as to what to replace with. Glass, place said Porsche can provide windshield or I can get a Sekurit from classic glass. Don't know if Porsche is actually a Sekurit, glass place doesn't know. I'll probably call the dealer. If they say it's branded Porsche would you do that or the Sekurit? BTW, Porsche is $900+, vs $350 for Sekurit. No cash out of pocket either way.

Is it a show car, or a driver? If you drive it, the windshield will probably need replacing again at some point. For that difference, I'd go Sekurit. You won't notice a difference and the savings will help keep everyone else's premium down.
![]() Porsche windshield can go on before you put the car away or put it in garage for safe keeping... One thing to consider is 964 seal instead of SC seal, to do away with the metal trim and make future installs much easier. I've not done this but heard it's an improvement.

The glass you get from the Porsche dealer will most likely be Pilkington (same brand that you'll get from a BMW dealer also).

Another option and close to you.
I picked up several Sekurit (now Saint-Gobain Sekurit) windshields. Very fair price and they had exactly the options I was looking for. Sekurit is probably what the car came with, and it the glass didn't say Porsche on it, and neither will the new one. It'll probably say Sekurit Saint-Gobain or Pilkington, as KNS said. Thanks all:
I spoke to Richard and he has the Sekurit in stock.. $350, Porsche quotes over $900!. I'm fine with the Sekurit, don;t need "Porsche" stamped on it, all my windows say Sekuritt, not Porsche and I'm pretty sure the side and rear glass is the original from the factory. I'm having them replace all OEM seal and trim, Hagerty is paying for the whole deal and I deserve (mass requires) insurance to provide OEM or superior replacement.

Replaced mine during bare metal repaint as it cracked when they attempted to reinstall it as we thought it would. Dealer had Pilkington glass at $150.00( ordered for a guy who never picked it up) How could I refuse?
Fits perfectly and no issues with it or the new seal which is Porsche. Take the Sekurit.

... and make sure you use a good rubber seal. Recommend staying away form the ones that cost $35. Most OEMs are about $60-$100 and Porsche is about $140 I think. Cheap insurance.

Hey ghamilton, where are you having it done? Something tells me to stay away from the chain windshield shops. I'm in Mass too.

I had the windshield in my 3.2 replaced last winter with parts procured from a Porsche dealer. The windshield is a Pilkington. The DOT code on the windshield identifies the factory where it was made. I believe mine was made in the UK. While you may get a Sekurit or Sigla windshield, if it matters to you, check first where it was made. You can find a listing of the DOT codes online.

May be too late and too expensive, but a 964 windshield and trim will fit. Saves the hassle of the press-fit metal trim. But it comes at a premium ($1500 or so at last count). I have glass insurance, one of the last 3.2s off the line, and my car came with 964 pieces here and there. It's a hassle every time I catch a stone (2-3 times so far).

Yeah this was covered by glass insurance too, didn't know about the 964 compatibility but pretty happy with this as it's great to see again as the original was so pitted and chipped it was dangerous to drive in the sun or at night

I'm good with tools.

Should I expect the glass company will try and reused the existing front windshield seal.......?
