LED bulbs for tail lights
My daily driver Audi needs a bulb replaced in a tail light. It takes a fairly common 12V 21W bulb.
Should I consider replacing the incandescent bulb with an LED? Could a non-incandescent bulb mess up the monitoring that displays warning messages on the dash? |

Unless you can match resistance of the incandescent, you’ll get a warning light that light is out (even though it’s not).

the trick is to install a resistor of the right size in the circuit. The hard part is the right size. I had this problem with a led brake light in my saab wagon. Had to install a 10 ohm resistor. that stopped the warning light.
I used a resistor box I have to find the right size
