901 gear box question

65 4 spd.
My reverse light plug leaks. Like a sieve.
I want to remove the pin thst actvates it and then seal the. Internal hole where the. Pin goes to turn it onto a plug.
By removing this pin nothing is going to fall out when I use it ??

Maybe the switch itself is leaking. Is it tight against it's sealing ring? No crack in the case?

I've cleaned it and I believe it's laeaking thru the switch.
I do have quite a leak from the breather on top but I put that down to over full.

Is the hole in the breather facing the nose of the trans, or slightly toward the passenger side? Otherwise it will puke fluid.

Mine leaked as well seamed to leak through the Bakelite in the switch so I replaced
The switch and that stopped the leak.

Quite correct. The vent is aiming at the rear drivers wheel.
I want to block mine. My lights are not worth what the part is .
Can I leave the pin out ??

Aim the vent closer to the front of the car and maybe it will stop spewing. No problem leaving the pin out. Maybe some JB weld on the pin hole on the switch?
