Jacking point delete
 

Continued stripping out bad metal today.Removed jacking bars.I noticed a build from "G Programm" where they delete them, for a cleaner look.Anyone done this.Not sure how it helps a puncture fix?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1580492665.jpg

I use the jacking points way too much to consider removal. Sure you can still jack one corner at a time but it's nice to lift the side of the car and have easy access for wheel changes, jack stands, etc. If you really hate the look of them it you could recess them a bit and paint them black to hide them. The factory Bilstein jack interfaces with the jacking point hole, so you'll want to pick up a scissor jack from a 944 or something instead.

Those super lightweight builds by G Programm can't be bothered with heavy items like jacks, spare tires, and electric air pumps. That's nearly 60lbs right there! :-) It's flatbed time if there's a mishap.

I have seen some people shave them so they don't stick out so much.

I use mine a lot so I never considered deleting it. I run the stock cap over it sans rocker to hide it.

I deleted mine years ago. It just looks cleaner. That, and I'm no fan of the factory jack. I carry a really small floor jack for roadside emergencies - I believe they are more stable and more versatile.

Fantastic car.Thing is what point do you jack from.Cant use standard place.It will surely crease floor pan.Im thinking of bracing seam,(about 12 inches) then using an aluminum 924/944 jack to lift.

I jack from the front or rear, never from the side. I use the crossmember in front of the gas tank on the front and the engine mount under the cross bar on the rear.

I think trimming them at a 45* angle like that hides them well but still keeps the functionality.

I get that Geoff.What sort of jack do you carry in case of a flat.Or do you not?

I carry a small, lightweight floor jack. And a plug kit along with a small electric pump, since I do not have room for a spare.
