Removing textured paint
Years ago a friend repaired some minor damage to the front of my car. When he repainted it he repainted the front spoiler with a textured paint, saying that it would with stand rock chips better. Well that was many years ago and I think it's time to remove it and just repaint the spoiler.
This picture shows the textured area. So. Does anyone know how remove this textured paint short of using a sander?

A good paint stripper should get it off. The problem is finding a "good" paint stripper.
Some years ago they changed the environmental/health laws so the stuff we get now isn't as good. (multiple applications required) Maybe you can get proper Aircraft Stripper were you are.

stripper for sure, I have a hardtop adapted for my targa that was oem painted with texture and it was a b*&^% to get off 100% clean. I used stripper, then various grits of sanding and it was labor intensive. Have you considered a new replacement chin instead :-)

New spoiler is around $700. That's a lot of stripper and elbow grease.

Went out today to start removing the front air dam for repaint and touch up. Should have known there would be more to it. My front oil cooler is blocking the front air dam mounting points. Sooo, I put the pieces I removed back and tomorrow I'll cover the car except the air dam/spoiler and prepare it to strip/sand and get it ready to repaint.

After the paint is stripped and you are left with the textured undercoating you can use a heat gun and a paint razor blade scraper. I did this method when i restored my car in early 2000 time frame. I used hose clamps to clamp the scraper to the heat gun. In essence it became one tool that softened the undercoating and scraped it off as I moved the gun.
