Blew 2 coils in 24 hours

Backstory: bought a new to me 74' 911 targa a few months ago. Did some basic tune up maintenance projects after I initially purchased: air filter, plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor. Has been running ok. Was driving on the highway and felt a hesitation for a second and then it died. It would turn over but would not start. Got it home and let it sit overnight. Tried to start again, nothing. Figured it was the coil (had a bosch coil on when I bought it). So I replaced the coil (had a spare as I was aware of the reputation of the bosch coil). Started right up. Let it sit in the driveway and idle awhile. Ran fine. After it was warm gave it a few revs and same scenario. Hesitation for a second, died, would not restart. So then I looked a little deeper. Checked the plugs and wires- looked ok. Took off the cap and rotor and found what I believe was the issue. The wire going from the distributor to the points had a fair amount of slack and was arched up enough that it was just rubbing on the bottom of the rotor. The rotor had worn enough of the sheathing off that the wire was exposed. So it appears this was causing a short and blowing the coil. I fixed the issue, cut the wire down and re-soldered the connection. I have another coil on order (Pklassik). My question is what other damage could this short have done? I'm going to check all the fuses, but is there anything else specifically that I should check that could have gotten fried?

Thats what I am wondering. Previous owner sent the box out a year ago and was bench tested and "rebuilt" so should have been in good working order.

I know they are crap and I have a different brand coil coming. But in this instance they didn't fail on their own. I'm more concerned about what else was potentially damaged from the short.

Yep, Brazilian coils would have to improve to just suck. Worse than URO products if that is possible.

Stuff that fails out of the box should be banned. Memo to Trump. Bring back American auto part manufacturers.

While there have been some issues with certain URO parts, the URO forum members are active, responsive to customer concerns and seem to be continuously working to address and improve upon their products. I may be wrong, but I believe they have even replaced parts with new improved versions.

The silver Bosch coil is a piece of crap. I repeat, a piece of crap!!!!

I too have gone through two of them back to back and they are worthless.

I will tell you where to go buy the remanufactured original Black Bosch Coil in a message I just sent you.

Good luck.

you say, installing either of your coils brings/braught the car to life, then fails.
correct?

if yes, so it's not the CDI box or the green wire.
