Exciting Film Project Proposal

Dear Pelicans,

My name is Patch, I’m a video/photo producer currently residing in New York.

I inherited a 76’ 911S Targa that was in poor shape about 3 years ago and I knew barely anything about the car or mechanics. Since then, I’ve learnt to bring the car back to life with help from friends but mainly from the passionate members of this forum. Along the way, I’ve met many members and been fortunate enough to visit workshops and garages to see some very impressive machinery.

With this in mind, I wanted to use my talents as a producer to create short documentary style video’s interviewing collectors, mechanics and passionate owners who want to tell their story of why Porsche is so special to them.

I’d love to come to your workshops, garages, homes and interview you and film your beautiful cars. I feel that it's important to give back to the community that has helped me so much and help inspire the next generation of Porsche owners.

As this is a self-financed project, I’m looking for people who live in a 100 mile radius from New York City. This hopefully will change as the series progresses.

If this is something you’re interested in and would like to continue the conversation, please email me and I can explain in detail what we are looking to achieve. Alternatively, if you know of someone who isn’t on the forum yet has a fantastic story or collection please reach out!

Many thanks,

Patch Ward

If you get down to the New Orleans area, look me up. I would be glad to get involved. Best of luck with this project.

As this is a self funded project, I'd be putting all the budget into camera's (possible drone), lenses, transport, crew, post production etc.

However, depending on who you are and how exclusive your collection is perhaps I could find some budget as a gesture of good will.

Many thanks,

I was at a seminar for our internal audit staff in Miami mid-2005-ish and there was a production company that made a video of our week and it rocked. There was a genuine business purpose for the video and not just for capturing a "boondoggle." Picture 80 auditors, like third on the list of most boring professionals, just behind actuaries and morticians, kind of appearing as superstars.

I bet you could take somebody with a unique Porsche niche and turn it onto something worthy of watching.

There are a few in your area that I could recommend that play on this board but I'll remain silent for now. I might be able to nudge them for you. Not my place really but I could ask as I know them personally.

This one below is very well done. If I remember, Freddie had a pal that was a video producer and he made this video.

If you ever make it to the west coast, especially the SF bay area, you will no doubt have a wealth of enthusiasts.

You should attend the Hershey, PA Porsche meeting this year. Lots of interesting cars. Talk to the owners if they are interested to participate.

I'm in MetroNY and have a couple and know a few guys who do as well. Plus, there would be a few shops I'd recommend for you to visit.

Having said that however, you'll probably do best by contacting MetroNYPCA.org.

I am in NYC, we could talk....my car is as photogenic as any, not sure if I am. It's a one-car collection, not counting the MX-5 & M3, parked elsewhere. Maybe you are looking for more intense collectors who have a buncha Porsche's? Anyway the garage is ugly & don't want to reveal the exact location - it's a shared-space with an old lady who owns a Buick, ha ha, there's a story for ya!

Glad to hear how about your experiences with the community. Did you have anything more specific in mind with what you're hoping to produce? Your concept is very open ended as-is.

I'm in Bucks county. I'd be happy to talk with you and show you some cars.

I quit a perfectly good 20 year career as a derivatives trader to get into the Porsche business over 10 years ago. I worked for a couple of Porsche dealerships and these days I am an indi dealer with a heavy concentration on Porsche.

Hi Benny,

Yes, I intentionally kept it open ended so that it didn't deter people from getting in touch. I wanted to see who came out of the wood work first before narrowing down the creative.

Would you be interested in collaborating or being interviewed/filmed? I'm a big fan of your work and i'm sure people would like to know more about you and your story!

Many thanks,

Patch

If you decide to travel south to the Wash DC area I've gotcha covered. Besides myself, there are a number of interesting personal workshops, garages, and collections here in the tri-state area.

Hi Trader2020,

Fantastic! If you wouldn't mind shooting me an email with your contact details, that way we can arrange a time to have chat and go through my proposal.

Many thanks,
