WOW - So that's how 911 brakes are supposed to be!
Hi Guys,
Just finished replacing my master cylinder, and WOW what a difference Since I've had my car I've never been really happy with the brakes and recently I think the rears just haven't worked at all Over the last year or so I've replaced all the flexible lines, pads, rotors, rebuilt all the calipers, lost count of the number of litres of brake fluid I bled through, and none of it seemed to make a difference. So the only thing that was left was the MC, There were no visible leaks and I wasn't loosing any fluid so I guess it must have been leaking internally. Just wanted to share in case anyone else has this problem! Cheers

Congrats Tim! Quite timely as I am in the middle of my caliper rebuilds (they are literally taken apart on the table in front of me right now).
The MC is going to be my next step. What size MC did you go with? Direct replacement or larger.

make sure your passengers have their seatbelts on, then watch their arms unwillingly fly forward as you lay on the brakes, THAT is always fun

Tim,
An easy job replacing the MC? Mine works but is very rusty so maybe a replacement is due!

Hi Chris,
It took me a leisurely couple of hours or so, a very easy job! Cheers

Excellent! For future reference, I typically suggest replacing the master cylinder first, as it is the one thing that seems to cause a lot of problems...

Jeff,
Just noticed your question! I replaced my MC with the stock part. I did think about the turbo one but research (on this board of course!) concluded that it wouldn't give any benefit. Cheers
