Colored matched wheels and RS style graphics.
I recently attended a Time Trial up north. I heard about it at the last minute but could spend no more than a 1/2 hour due to another appointment. Stoopid me...no camera.
Saw a rather interesting 86ish Carrera with a red Carrera stripe along the door and 993 wheels colored the same. This is a 993 style wheel btw.....think red or any other color but silver.... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/P4050002.JPG I was wondering.....too ricey or interesting later style interpretation of RS style graphics? Anyone have any pics of such or can do a photo shop...... |
those look like the 16" wheels that were standard on the Boxster, but possibly on the 993 as well ('95-'96ish maybe)
|
Good eye....yup 16s.
I have a set of four, with the proper spacers and longer studs. I previously did a set up with Black coated wheels and adapter spacers....got dinked on inspection before a DE/TT. They did not like "adapters". But I was wondering if it would be too ricey with say, green or the gulf blue colors. Both the stripes and wheels. |
just a note on the "adapters". ask the techie what he would say if you arrived driving a totally stock 993 S with 17" wheels from the factory?? they came right from Germany with the (approx.)25mm adapters.

|
Yeah...but with contrasting Carrera Stripe and same color wheels.....photo shop anyone?
|
It will look good mike!
I would go for it .. be a bit diff.. not one of the heard... Eric |
They dont look ricey in fact they look darn good. With the carrera script itll look super nice.
|
Don't you already have a black Carrera stripe, Mike? Just paint those wheels black and put them on. I think it would look tough.

I DID Tom....now the stripe is green, got a few extra sets in red, blue and orange.....
|
|
Yeah....but the lips on the 993 wheels don't polish out well.......
Tom, new side stripe. Gotta get to SD soon and pi$$ off that tech weenie ya got down there....ya know who....the guy with them yaller/greeen puke wheels....so funny when his ears turn red when I get him mad. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...pes[1].jpg |
Different colour combo's can look cool. How about this one (from Steve Timmin's site).
I once saw a white 996 with Carrera stripes and blue centred wheels - it looked great. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/bluecarrera.jpg |

C'mon down! I'd like a ride in that open-topped rocket. TT |
Do you guys think those would fit on my 1976 911s. I have 16" Fuchs on her now. Basically what I'm asking is, how wide are they?
|
They are 7s and 9.5s. Pretty hard to get them to fit on a non flared 911. Due to the later offset of the 993 wheels, you also need 1 inch spacers up front and two in the rear with the long studs. IF you want to do it right.
It can be done cheaper with five lug to five lug adapter style spacers....but that gets you a dink from the tech weenies at AX, DE and TTs.... Now, there ARE repros that have the early backspace, but they are heavy as hell. I got these wheels from Bob at dC automotive....cheap, they were cosmetically challenged, I am bead blasting them and then doing an electrostatic powder coat on them. :p |
I'm also thinking about this color combo in red on my car--can someone Photoshop this for me? Thankshttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/dktl3.jpg

You are a wealth of knowledge mikez. They are to big for my ride, look like the fuch's win again.
