915 vs G50 shift coupler
Researching what I expect to need to replace to fix a sloppy shift lever on 88 Carrera: ball socket (911.424.139.01), and bushing on shift lever mount (950.424.224.030). Anything else?
I have two questions for G50 experts: 1. what does the 'insulating hose' (999.615.047.40) on the gear shift rod do? Should I expect to replace it? 2. The shift coupler looks completely different from the 915 shift coupler that Pelican and other places sell. I notice that Pelican does not sell the G50 shift coupler (950.424.028.03), only the 915 one. Do G50 shift couplers not need replacing, and if they do, how would I know when I look at it? For a picture of G50 shift coupler see PET CD: MG=7/SG=01/Illustration=701-01 Same picture, with fewer labels in Parts and Tech Ref Catalogue pp.68-69

G50 Shift Coupler
Hello buddy, I am going to change the bushings for easier shifting on my '88 G50. I thought I would also change the shift coupler and that it would be something like this:
https://www.**********.com/porsche-shift-rod-coupler-915-transmission-911-p-5552.aspx But instead my research shows that the coupler for the G50 is this one: https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/JWSTG50CPLR.htm?pn=JWST-G50-CPLR I'm going to hold off on changing it until I get to see the current one with my own eyes. |
