Shorter front hub grease cap option?

Does anyone know of any shorter grease cap options for the front hub on an 82SC?

It seems like it is taller than it needs to be and I could use some additional clearance. I would prefer to not have to trim it down. Thanks!

guess you can grind down the base ring so it slides in deeper.

not sure if that helps pulling it later (unless you have the proper tool to grab the edge).

Thanks Flojo. That was one option that I had thought of.

I was hoping perhaps that there might be an alternate part number of a shorter cap from another pcar out there.

Mine sits snug against the hub retaining nut as is.

Thanks. I haven’t taken it off on mine to inspect just yet but will. I saw a video where it looked like there was some excess room between the cap and the end of the spindle nut but it might have been a bad angle. Thanks again for the feedback!

Would a cap for an older car be shorter? Mine looks smaller on my '71 than what is shown in the picture. '66-'73 has a different pn 914 341 684 than the SC.

The one on my SC measures 1.25” off of the hub face.

My '71 measures ~1". Maybe someone will know if those will fit? I know the hubs are different.
