Adhesive for Door Seal

Hi All,
I installed door seals a couple of years ago but the bottom rear corner (a curve really) won't stay glued down.

What the best adhesive to use to keep door seals firmly in their channel?

I used the Permatex equivalent to 3M which is 81731 which is amber colored. I just used a bit in the lower 2 corners.

It helps to really clean the channel out, getting the old adhesive and stray bits of the old seal out so the new one nestles down in there. Then it doesn’t take much adhesive, best to keep it to a minimum.

Make sure it's not too stretched going around the corner, so it doesn't want to pull out of the groove. Do the stretching to fit along the straight parts. Good luck, it's annoying it coming out all the time. Mine did that too.

Make sure its a nice hot day too. I used the Permatex on a hot day and just kept the door shut on the seal all day.

honestly, when i finished putting together my green car, i just threw the seals in sans adhesive so i could get the car on the road and shake it down.

year and a half later, i still haven't pulled the seals back out to put down adhesive. seal has popped out a couple of times in one corner, but mostly stays put.

i'll get to it one of these days.

I use tire glue like road bike riders use for tubular tires, looks and smells like the original and worked great. It's also what I had on hand at the time, and its cheap.

Can you be a little more specific? Not really sure what "Tire Glue" is. Where on the Tire/Tube is it applied?

I found this "Kex Cold Vulcanizing Rubber Tire and Tube Patch Plug Repair Cement Glue " and this "Bob Smith Ind IC-2000 Tire Glue -1 ounce".

Am I getting close?

Parabond M250..from heavy duty carpet install to rubber weatherstrip. Typically available at flooring supply places.

Tubular (sew up) tire glue is available at most bike shops for us old school guys. Several mfrs. produce it. Tubulars are a combo tire/tube set up where the glue is applied to a strip on the inner circumference of the tire or to the rim and then the tire is stretched around the rim. I have done dozens over the years and it is still a messy procedure.
I call it the glue from hell and dread changing a tire.
Personally, I would use 3M or Permatex as it is readily available at auto parts stores.

Agreed with the above, now that I think about it more. . It is good glue but Permatex or #M are prob a much better and more modern product.

Thanks Guys! That's very helpful. In fact I'm pretty sure I have 3M and Permatex on the shelf -- so that makes things easier.
