Changing flex brake lines.............

I decided to do some brake work on my SC and bought a set (4) of the Rennline stainless steel braided lines. After receiving them, I discovered that one end on each hose is made differently than the existing lines. The old lines use a "C" clip on each end to secure the hose to the locating bracket. The new lines use one of the "C" clips and a "spring" on the other end. So, I ordered 4 of the "springs" and halted the brake work until they arrived. Well, the parts arrived a couple of days ago but when I tried to install the hose/spring assembly, I discovered that the hole in the mounting tab was large enough to allow the entire fitting to pass thru. So, I took one of the hoses to the Ace hardware store and found a size washer that would prevent the hex part of the hose end from passing thru the mounting tab. I guess my question here is has anyone else had this same experience? At this point, I am somewhat less than thrilled about the hoops I have had to go thru just to replace 4 flex lines! Also, the new flex hoses are about 1" shorter than the old lines. However, even with the suspension fully extended, the steering will still go from lock to lock.

Maybe you got the wrong parts? I've installed several sets of stainless lines and all the factory hardware was reused with no issues. I haven't installed Rennline brake lines but their parts are usually really well thought out and executed...

On my ‘87 Carrera, the lines are as you described for the new set (one end uses a C-clip, the other a spring clip thing). I am thinking you got Carrera parts...
