Windscreen fitting - Bottom lip problem
76 911. A screen fitter tried to reinstall my original front & rear screens today, with new Porsche rubber and trim in to the original frame/car after painting (rear was easy), Front has a problem the fitter is finding it almost impossible to get the lower edge part of the rubber seal to lock over the car body seam, its tight and fitting good everywhere else. It looks like the gap between the rubber seal lip and the steel seam of the cars frame is to bigger gap to bridge with the rubber lip, if he did get it on it slowly crept back off. He took 3 goes at it and got to late to continue, when he comes back I'd like to provide him with any useful information.
Q1. The fitting was done with the dash top fitted making access to the rubber seals inside bottom lip almost impossible, can the screen be put in before the dash top is fitted to give better access? If so how would the 4 small screws be fitted that are at the front top edge of the dash top either side of the screen vents? Q2. Any other suggestions ? Many thanks Mark |
