Forum Picture Upload issues?

Is anyone else having issues with the picture upload functions?

Most pictures upload to 20-25% and then stop. Eventually they timeout.

I have tried this on 3 different networks all with same issue. Guess the server update over Friday night has messed something up. :)

Hi jpnovak- Using a .jpg file format for your photos (as opposed to tif or png) seems to work well. I had the exact same issues you described using png.

My pics load upside down or sideways on my computer web browser. They are correct on my iPad

Experiencing the same issues as both you guys. Got frustrated and walked away thinking it was something on my end, guess not.

I've only had a couple go sideways, tried correcting it prior to posting and it still comes out sideways although they a are correctly oriented in my file or folder. All are jpeg,

Guys, it is pretty easy to use the Pelican photo upload feature. The real benefit, is years from now, the photo will show up, where linking it to some web site it likely will not show a photo years from now.

First off, make sure the photo is not too big. Right from most cell phones in 2020 is way bigger than you need. Resize the image to 2000 pixels wide and it is plenty big. And the reason pictures are sideways or upside down is an Apple thing. My iPhone photos will show up sideways if I upload the file directly.

Just open the photo in Paint or any photo editor. In Paint, just click the resize button and punch in 2000 pixels wide, and leave the aspect ration alone. Save the image. Done. That will also make it post right side up assuming Paint shows it right side up.

Then click the "Go advanced" yellow button.

That brings up a large "Click here to upload photos" button. Guess what, you click it.

You will see a large window that says drag photos here, or you can just left click in that window and it will show the file system on your computer, Find the photos you wan to upload, and it will upload it.

I like to do a preview post to make sure it looks right, and then click Submit Reply.

Thx Guys..

But its pretty evident how easy it is to load pictures here on Pelican. However, that doesn't change the fact that occasionally there is a server issue or something causes a file to skew... it just is what it is.

Thx
