well the internet has limited info on this. and it seems to come back to the same few targa examples.

how many were made? does anyone actually know?

how many are known to exist?

who is lurking with some extra knowledge about these.SmileWavy

There are a number of articles on the web and a few threads on Pelican regarding the 3.1.

I think the excellence article “point one” is probably the most comprehensive info out there. A couple of old threads here and a couple new ones centered around the Supertec 3.1 kit is about all that’s out there.

im looking for info on the factory optioned ones, not the modern upgraded supertec units.

The Excellence article referenced discusses the original as do a number of other sources found by searching Pelican, Rennlist or the internet, in general.

There are no official build numbers. I've heard anything from around 200 to 500 cars.
Real ones have a longer 5th gear, special Bosch fuel distibutor, Turbo cylinders, special front oil cooler, and a small mesh grille in the front lip to feed air to the oil cooler.
If the paperwork is still with the car there would be an added leaflet with the 3.1 SC-L (L is for Leistungsgesteigert meaning power upgraded) and hopefully a letter from Porsche about the engine and maintenance.
I have some pics that I'll post later from a 3.1 I missed because the seller didn't honour our deal, but that's another story...
