I am surprised the center trim pieces are already installed, I thought the trim was installed after the windshield was in place.....

Couple of tricks from a glass guy who did my rear targa screen by himself:
Use a conical top, like found on some glue or caulking tubes and thread the rope through it. You can then press the sharp end of the top into the groove and quickly work the rope around the seal.
Plastic interior trim tools and large metal picks can be used to pull in stubborn sections of the seal rather than removing it and starting over.

Yeah, I had to use a tool made from a welding rod with the end bent to get the lower lip over on my windshield. The cord just would not do it.

No way to get the trim in once the windshield is in place

I saw on one of the video links the guy test fits the windshield and seal without the trim. I removed my trim and now see that it takes a bit of patting in to get it inside the metal.

I知 going to recheck the bend of my trim and then reinstall and try to get it in again.

Starting to gain more understanding of how it works.

Couple 'o' factors:
Temp, if its cold, it can get miserable since the rubber gets stiff.
Lube, don't use anything with detergent or petroleum in it. The detergent is alkali and the petroleum can cause problems with the paint and rubber. Use something like this:

I知 getting closer with each try and I知 starting to understand better how this works.

However I知 having an issue with the trim popping out when I push it into place.

I知 wondering if my trim is too out of shape and should be replaced.

Trying to distract myself from the news for a while.

I pushed all my trim back in. Any ideas for keeping it in there when I push the windshield back in?

I had the same issue when I wanted to install mine, what worked with me very well is that I tried to "form" the trim to follow the contour of the rubber as much as I can, then I asked the helper to push in the rubber WITH the trim on the same location where I pull the rope, it took some time and patience but finally I got it right in the 3rd attempt.

This windshield install is rough.

Two questions.

1. How close are the ends of the trims usually from each other?

2. When you put the rope in the seal there are two flaps (inner and outer). Which flap goes on top? Or does it not matter?
