MSD Blaster 2 coil question

I ordered the blaster 2 coil by accident- the red one. I’ve always used the black MSD high vibration coil.

Am I ok using this in a stock 83 SC? I hate to have to return it if I don’t have to

Thanks

Actually it looks like they sent me the blaster 2 by accident.

The red ones are oil filled and in my experience they can fail prematurely if mounted upside down. So I always mount them with the terminals up.

Ok thanks. I’ll try to exchange it. I paid $10 more for the high vibration coil anyway

Did you actually open the package? I had the same thing happen, the outside of the package and wording showed the red coil but inside it was actually the black one.

No I didn’t open because I didn’t want any issues with returning it. Pelican does not take returns of coils according to the policy I read.

hm..., mine came in a plastic blister case and was obviously the black 8222

the red one, oil filled (not epoxy) is the technically same as the black bosh.
But yes mount these upright!

I opened it. I was relieved to find the black high vibration coil in the blaster 2 box. Very strange.

Thanks

All’s well that ends well

Interesting mixup.

I read the instructions as upright e.g. not horizontal so the coils are all immersed in oil.
