Back on the road....finally!
After several weeks of off and on working on the Porsche, I finally got it off the lift and back on the road. All this started innocently enough, the tires had flat spotted from not being driven and I decided to put the car up on the lift for a few days to see if the flat spots would "go away" on their own. Then, one day when walking past the car, I reached out to spin the front tire only to find that the brakes were locked up! Ok, said I, the flex hoses have gone bad and ordered a set from PP. The hoses finally arrived so I started taking the brakes apart only to find out that the calipers stayed locked up even with the hoses disconnected! Ok, time to order rebuild kits for the calipers! Wait a few more days for them to show up and back to work! Finally got all the brake stuff done and started bleeding the system. Using a combination of pumping the master cylinder and using a vacuum pump, I finally got a nice firm pedal. While the car was up on the lift, I decided to do an oil and filter change. Fortunately, I had the oil and filter on hand so that didn't take much time. Ok, said I, time to start the engine. Key in the ignition, turn the key........ and nothing. The battery had gone flat. Find the charger, hook to the battery and let it charge overnight. Next day, key in the lock, turn the key...... again nothing! So, pull the battery out (it's a red top gel battery) take it to my local NAPA store to have it tested and find out that my 1000 CCA battery was only reading about 10 CCAs! The good news is that it had been in the car since 2013 so I got 7 years of use out of it! Bad news is that the replacement was over $200! Ok, so new battery goes into the car, key in the ignition and turn....... engine bursts into its glorious song! So, wheels back on the car, tools picked up and wiped down/put away, hopped in and took a short drive in the neighborhood and found that all is well with the P-car! Anyway, the car wound up sitting on the lift for about a month or so. The good news is that most of that time the weather was bad, rainy or cold and rainy, etc and now that the car is back in the world of the living, the weather has turned nice! I love it when a plan comes together!

Great to hear you’re back on the road! Sounds like it was good you had the delays and fixed everything.

Picture...............
Since you asked, here is a picture of the car up on the lift. This was taken just before lowering the car for a test drive. The engine is a 3.3SS w/twin plug Carrera heads and 964 cams. Compression is 10.8:1 (measured) and ignition/timing is handled by Electromotive XDi crank fire system! Runs good!!
