Should the engine oil be drained for new thermostat, oil pressure sender gaskets?
On my car, after the removal of the air cleaner housing, I have sufficient access to these three items above the engine. 1. The thermostat 2. oil pressure sender, and 3. the crankcase breather outlet "housing". Can these be removed for gasket/o ring change with the oil still full in the engine? And if so, any precautions here. Thanks.

You do not need to drain the oil to replace the sender and/or the thermostat. Speaking from experience, removing the thermostat is a bear. I am attaching a thread from when I did mine. The sender is very simple and the thermostat is a very tight fit. After I removed the two bolts I pried from side to side with a very large screwdriver. I found it to be best to have the screwdriver perpendicular to the engine and reach in around the passenger side carb.
