Looking for 'flat' (no shine) clear coat paint
I'm trying to preserve patina surface on metal, I'd like to clear coat the panel but I want flat no shine or very low shine clear coat. Any ideas on such a product?
Thanks.

There are clear versions with matte finish in most paint lines. Everything from PPG, POR15, CeraKote, urethanes, epoxies, etc.
Lots of options. i have shot satin clear on top of paint but not direct to bare metal.

There’s also a flat film that you could have it wrapped in.

The metal panel has paint on it already but 60 years old and also has some surface rust. I want to keep the look of the panel but protect it somewhat, the panel will see very little rain or climate.
And we want the clear coat to be as dull as posible. Can you make a product recommendation? I also want to spray it with a professional air gun not a rattle can as I have a lot of surface to cover. I need at least a gallon.

Sal, Start by calling your local paint supply house. See what paint lines they have. I can get Dupont, sherwin Williams and PPG locally. They have a clear that you can mix in a flattening agent.

Already spoke with local paint shop and they mentioned the flattening agent, if you used this before does it work well?
I also just sent email to CeraCoat as they have matte clear coat products and these seem very high quality, like this one: https://www.cerakote.com/shop/cerakote-coating/MC-161/matte-ceramic-clear Jamie, thanks for all the tips! Exactly what I was looking for

Sal,
I highly recommend TCP Global Google them they are a great way to get top quality paint and body work supplies. I find most local automotive paint shops would rather not deal with the retail customer and charge as much as possible. Just my experience, and I am currently doing a big repaint project. |

I wouldn’t go and just start shooting whatever over your paint could lead to big problems. Mixing and matching different lines of paint can screw you good if your not careful. |
