Ignition Switch 1985 911

If anyone has replaced an Ignition Switch in their 911, mine is a 1985, what was the issue you were having? My key turns but only get a single click, power goes on, but the car does not start.
Wanted to know if you had the same problem that a new Ignition Switch fixed.
Thanks

I would do a search on this forum.. There is discussion on how much of a PITA it is.

Its common.. In fact I need to think about getting a spare switch as mine is doing something similar.. turn it on, nothing, turn it off then again nothing, then again starts up.. Kind a stressful when you are 5 hours from home in rural Minnesota..

Mine is an 1981.
