Potential Oil Leak From Lower Valve Cover on a 930

Hi

Just wanting to check my thinking before I send the car for a repair or do it myself.

I have a couple of oil leaks on my 1985 930 (44000km), the time chain is leaking but this isn't my biggest issue.

Ive checked the top of the engine which is dry but I think I also have a leak from the passenger side lower valve cover, is the possible on a 930.

I've tried to add some pictures to help (sorry I was laid on a floor in a carpark space at my apartment).

Any suggestions welcome.

My timing chain cover leaks on both sides and the value cover on the other side is clean. Plus with the positioning of the chain cover and the valve cover I would have though oil would not blow from the chain cover onto the valve cover.

I the first picture with the black hose/pipe, the top part of the hose is dry, seems to get spray on it.

it could be this oil leak ..upper camshaft oil line bolt is loose or even the fitting the the camshaft housing is leaking ..on thsi picture
Also..it could be you camshaft cover o ring and gasket...can you make a picture so we can see behind the air hose towards the chain housing where it meets the camshaft housing??
the one with the black arrow..is my 1st guess..

I'll take a picture shortly

I assume they can be fixed with the engine coming out?

I have an '86 930 with a leak that would be exactly where you have the black arrow. I can see where the hose is attached to the fitting and the hose, pipe and pipe end are completely dry. Not sure about the base of the fitting where it goes into the head though. I'll have to look more closely at that point. It's dripping a lot of oil right now so I need to get on this.

what happens is when someone replaces the camshaft oil line the fitting gets a little loose and after time it leaks.Remove the trough bolt and either remove the fitting and replace the alu washer or just make it tight..if it loose replace the washer i`d say...
Also it could be from your camshaft cover O ring or the gasket..but try this 1st...

Power wash/degrease the affected areas, then allow to dry. Drive car, then inspect for source.

Can the aluminum washer be sourced locally like from a FLAPS? I don't see too many alu washers on PP.

91110891100 is $4.75 for stupid brass washer. I may take you up on the offer of an alu washer. I'll dig into it this weekend and clean everything like 911pcars recommended.

So, have you determined the source of the leak or just going to start replacing parts? There are potential leak sources not yet identified.
