Targa/Convertible top latch repair possible?

Just a question, one of my latches 91156503141 doesn't "lock" anymore.

The center bolt, that should drive both hooks, isn't broken like most have, but runs "free" and as a result also the hook that should pull the top snug to the roof frame, doesn't do what it's supposed to do.

(the other hook, with the release spring, does actually still work, but is useless if you can't lock the hood down...)

Anyone know how the mechanical parts work? Can I fix that?

Everything seems OK, but there's no interaction between both parts, so I wonder what's missing...

LEFT HOOK : fine ; RIGHT HOOK : loose, but not connected to the center drive

Does this make sense? Andy one a picture of the mechanism behind the center plate?

he's not responding.

Nobody have an idea how this system works inside? I would remove the top of the latch, but I'm scared of ruining it. I think it's just missing a spring somewhere inside, and before spending $400 on a new one, I always try to fix it first...
