I just inherited a 911 I know nothing about
Hey everybody, I’m new to the forum and new to 911‘s. I just inherited a 1983 in good shape but not stock. I don’t know anything about this car except it hasn’t been registered for four years and probably has not been ran much in that time. it does start and run and stop but definitely needs turning help. It seems to have a standalone ECU management system by DTA Fast. Its either 3.2 engine swap or somehow 3.2 injection system mated to the 3.0? It has a short shifter and the clutch/trans is very tight and grabs hard, it needs higher revs (maybe a lightened flywheel) to get going and you better be ready to go when the clutch engages. Also non stock brakes headers and exhaust.
I’m in clackamas Oregon and this car originally was bought in Medford. After that it was in the Salem/Dallas (Oregon) area. I would like to keep the car and put some money into making it right. Any info about this engine and ECU would help me out. Where can I take the cate to get it tuned? Advice on where to start or what to look for to get answers. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...01af082110.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...9ee9057ef9.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3f1d3e98d5.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...654914d842.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...fcef69aec2.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...11eac14750.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...7ce9cc6338.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...da385751ea.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...b0c78bd486.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

it has those MK2 Recaro sport seats (desirable)
get some Fuchs (7/8x16), swap the headlights to Euros, delete the fogs and *zapp* you have a neat looking classic silhouette. Enjoy! |
The first thing is: What do you have?
- The picture of the ECU doesn't show a readable model number. DTA Fast has a webpage and a Facebook page so it should be easy to get some documentation and they might know what shop set it up. - What engine you have is a part of it. Post the serial number and someone can decode it for you. (On the block at the vertical surface on the right side of the fan.) Looked at DTA's site and your ECU looks different but at the speed that electronics change that isn't surprising. (The direct ignition is a nice detail.) Once you have more info there are a couple of shops up near Portland that most likely could give you a good start: Rennsport Systems (Steve Weiner) and Rothsport Racing. (You didn't mention where you are so I'm assuming Oregon. If you add your location to your profile it will make all your future posts easier.) |
