Cruise control hookup question

When cleaning up my engine compartment this winter (notice nice new engine pad in background of image ) I wanted to fix my cruise control connection. The previous owner just twisted a bunch of wire around the holder to keep the cable in place. Based on the following pictures, does anyone have any advise on how to get this secured properly. The plastic is not large enough to secure itself in the receiver.

Thanks much,
Matt

the clips on the cable housing are broken off, or collapsed. either use zip ties, try squeezing the bracket together more, or replace the cable assembly.
