Question about Certificate of Authenticity

I just received my Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche and I was wondering about some discrepancies in the listed factory installed options.
The Certificate lists sports seats, tinted glass, forged wheels, manual antenna and noise suppression but the car has all the following options too.

Velouren Carpeting
Gold Porsche nameplate and Model Number
Aluminum Door Sills
911S Rubber Moldings
Chrome Rocker Panels
911S Instruments
Rubber Bumperettes
Leather Covered Steering Wheel
Sway bars
Bumper bows

My questions are; do they sometimes have incorrect information on these? Could this stuff have been installed at the Dealer? I’m the second owner and the original owner says the car is exactly as it was when he took delivery.

Thanks for any info.

What's the going price on a Certificate of Authenticity these days? There was a discussion a while back. I've heard anywhere from $35 - $75.

And where do you get one?

Here’s a link for the application: http://www.pca.org/members/library/Cert_of_Authen_Form.pdf

It’s quoting a price of $110.00 for the certificate but I was only charged $70.00 because I had sent the application in before the 1st of the year. They are very slow and seem a little disorganized but I DID finally get it. They still haven’t charged my credit card though.

Nice looking car!

$110 seems excessive - even $70 seems like a lot.

The Window Sticker is what I would be interested in.

the 72 COA's lists a comfort group option ( 14" wheels ) and the window sticker list optional 15" wheels? i believe the COA's are accurate for body style and color, engine configuration and interoir colors, but get lost somewhere down the assembly line. framed and hung in the kitchen along with various other snagged mementos from various cars through the ages.

In the cover letter that I received, it states "please examine your ceriticate thoroughly and do not hesitate to contact us in case of inaccuracies, so we can replace it with a corrected version"...

(I asked them to correct the paint code since the COA stated Black/1010 while the plate states 700-9-2. They faxed me a document wherein, the former is the color code and 700 is an internal reference code).

Good luck!

69 Soft Targa 04-08-2003 11:18 PM

The price keeps going up.
I paid $30 several years ago when requesting a Kardex (warranty records on a card) for my soft window Targa. I received the newly unveiled COA. The info I did receive was accurate but not what I expected. Apparently privacy laws no longer permit sending a copy of the original record.

My COA stated:

Model Year/Type:
Engine Number:
Transmission Number:
Exterior Paint Color/Code:
Interior Material Color/Type:

Optional Equipment:
Soft Rear Window
5-Speed Transmission
Bumper Guards With Rubber Pad
Loudspeaker
Fog Lamps
Tonneau Cover

I've heard reports from the "356 Registry" of discrepancies/contradictions in info when more than one Kardex was requested at different times on the same car!

Too bad we can't turn back the clock and get the good stuff!

Hey Paul! (pwd72s) tell us again what your request in the good old days produced!
