fender installation putty....
I removed my front fenders on my 911 to have the paint and undercoating removed for repaint and will be reinstalling them soon. I couldn't find a reference for fender installation putty in the PP's CD. Tweeks carrys what I need but I prefer west coast suppliers. Anyone with suggestions? Wayne? Thanks in advance.
Regards, Clinton R Hodges II

Are you looking for concours correct?
If no, try RV seam putty...you can find it at RV supply shops...I had a big roll until the raccoon ate it... don't ask.. sjd

You could also use 3M's seam sealer which would be available at your local autobody supply house. That's what I used..

I'll have to dig up the box of sealer putty I have in my basement. It's long thin strips of a clay/putty type material. I'll post pics and additional info when I find it.
It's what I used during my 930s conversion.

I always wondered if plumbers putty would work. Its easy to mold, doens't shrink, forms a watertight seal, and cost next to nothing for a large tub.
Just a thought. jamie

I couldn't find the sealer at home but just finished a search on the net.
I used what is called Black Strip Caulk. Used for sealing interior and exterior panels, holes, seams, gaps etc. It's paintable, sticks to almost anything, very pliable and wont crack. It is used by many car manufactures and is available from any autobody supply. It's $9 a box from Eastwood. Pelican doesn't carry it ...I checked on the product search at the top of the Forum page. Hope this helps. http://www.eastwoodco.com/email/default2.asp?SRCCODE=1CJBAN8&PageName=TShirt http://www.sherwin-automotive.com/products/show_product.cfm?product=28994 ![]() ![]()

Home depot has a sealent called duct seal. When I was an Electricians Mate in the Navy many years ago we used duct seal on electrical pipes that wires went thru from one compartment to another. I have some at home and it seems to be the same as what was on the fenders of my car when I tore it apart. Gray in color very sticky and plyable. It is water proof and neve hardens.
